I see this car most everyday. Back when I was looking at cars for my son about six years ago, the cheapest running, driving cars I could find were often ZX2s, still hanging on, but roached out within an inch of their lives.
I have seen this car for years, it looks like it drove off the new car lot two weeks ago. Somewhere in the cubicle palace of a building I work in is a person who took what literally everybody else in the world saw as a disposable appliance and treated it, plastic wheel covers and all, like, well, like it wasn’t a Ford Escort. Which is kind of cool.

I saw a pretty clean ZX2 ag my local Pullapart the other day, I'm guessing some expensive failure (relatively speaking) did it in. I love people like your coworker though, they are my best customers when flipping obscure OEM parts on Ebay.

Had a lot more power than the regular Escort as well. Too bad Ford didn’
t offer the Zetec on the sedan or wagon. And too bad the Focus
never got the chip that added 10 hp that was available on the ZX2

Those look like alloy wheels to me. But I agree with your broader point.

Looking closer at the original pic, think you are right, they don't usually clip wheel weights to hubcaps.
